Insurance
By The River Counseling & Wellness is not in-network with any insurance providers, but I can provide you with a special type of receipt, called a superbill, to seek reimbursement if you have out-of-network coverage. Many clients pay for their therapy services using their Health Savings Account card.
I’d recommend asking these questions to your insurance provider to help determine your benefits and potential for reimbursement:
- Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?
- Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?
- Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?
Frequently Asked Questions
Why isn’t By The River Counseling & Wellness an in-network provider with my insurance company?
- I have chosen not to be paneled with insurance companies because it helps me retain the autonomy I need to provide you with a premier experience. Insurance companies place several limitations on therapists about the length of sessions, covered diagnoses, and covered treatments. Insurance companies also require therapists to spend valuable time providing documentation to justify your therapy, including information about your diagnosis, treatment goals, and progress. I would rather provide a more confidential process and use that valuable time to make sure I am giving you the attention and quality service you deserve.
Why would I chose to pay out of pocket for therapy if I have insurance coverage?
- Using insurance to pay for therapy is a good option for many people. However, some people feel limited by the choices available through their insurance so they choose to pay out-of-pocket or use a Health Savings Account. Many clients say they are willing to self-pay because they received a referral to By The River Counseling & Wellness from a trusted source who knows the quality of my work. And, some clients self-pay because they feel better knowing information about their diagnosis and treatment is not being reported back to their insurance company.
How do I submit out-of-network insurance reimbursement requests?
- You can submit out-of-network claims directly with your insurance company (contact your insurance company for details on their process) or you can take advantage of resources like Reimbursify for assisting claims for reimbursement. These apps specialize in simplifying the process to make it easier for you to get reimbursed by your insurance company.
Payment
- I accept cash and all major credit cards as forms of payment (including HSA/FSA cards).
